Themes from William Blake’s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell
The vinyl version of Ulvers "Themes from William Blake’s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell" is out on Jester now, available through Neuropa.

As the original version was not possible to adapt to the much larger vinyl format without destroying the graphics we decided to do a complete remake: making new props, taking new photos and redoing the whole design from scratch but staying as close to the original as possible.

"Themes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, released in 1998, was different from what Ulver had made before. Tore Ylwizaker, a new composer and sound architect, added to Garm’s expanding artistic visions, and together they stepped over the boundaries of black metal aesthetics, creating a genre-defying work. In this album, the musicians blended electronics, industrial music elements, progressive metal and avant-garde rock, adding ambient passages."

Once you're over at Neuropa's store you can also order ALFA OBSCURA's "Plutonian Shores", released by ADVERSUM.

"ALFA OBSCURA's "PLUTONIAN SHORES", a solo BLACK METAL album by BJEIMA, the man behind last years much praised debut album by YUREI, also a member of VIRUS, DELIRIUM BOUND and several more Oslo acts.

Nostalgic but un-sentimental,  "Plutonian Shores" is a collection of ferocious tracks merging the weirder side of Norwegian Metal heritage and the obscure grandeur of unforgiving, traditionalist, nineties Black Metal."

Availble on CD in black paper cover printed with varnish fitted with a built-in booklet.

Raining Blood
For the third time since 2005 we've had the pleasure of working with She Said Destroy. As usual with She Said Destroy we were invited to do what we wanted, without guidelines or rules beyond our own inspiration from the music and lyrics.

When we did the artwork for their "The City Speaks in Tongues" album 3,5 years ago the result of this process was subject to both praise and critique from the audience, probably because we've left the genre references completely behind to pursue the meaning of the lyrics instead. Sometimes real ugliness is the only way to convey the message.

This time there's no pink though. "Bleeding Ficiton" is a 27 minute one-track affair. Listen to it on Spotify here

We've also updated our portfolio with the logo for Gravgang, a norwegian blog/webzine covering Black Metal.

Plutonian Shores released today
The wait is over. ADVERSUM is proud to announce the arrival of Alfa Obscura. "Plutonian Shores" is a collection of ferocious tracks forged from the weirder side of Norwegian Metal tradition and the obscure grandeur of nineties Black Metal. As unforgiving as a panic attack this album is chiseled from cold, dissonant guitar work.

All music made and performed by Bjeima (Yurei, Virus, Delirium Bound ++)

In true Adversum style the Alfa Obscura album (originally scheduled for a late spring release) has been plagued by an endless stream of cancerous delays caused by production problems with both the CD and the artwork. The artwork needed to be reprinted three times (!!) to get it right - just getting the cover as intended took three months!

Sometimes the process is hard but the result is worth it: This is a physical product that deserves to be bought!

This premium Black Metal recording just proves Black Metal still can give us goosebumps. This is also the first of Adversums releases to get DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION. So look out for it on Spotify and iTunes in a couple of months or so. In the meantime I hope you support our small enterprise by ordering the CD!

The Peaceful Edition
In each issue 360 (Oslo Airport Magazine) has a different theme that runs through the entire magazine. In this years last issue the theme is peaceful and we were asked to make an illustration for the front cover. On page 8 we're featured with a short interview, information about the process and pictures of some of our other work. The magazine is available for free at Gardermoen airport.

"Peaceful in todays life is for many of us a state without noise and disturbance—a pause in a hectic life. But there are many ways to perceive this word - many people live in war zones or in areas of natural disasters. In wildlife there's always been the brutal reality of prey and carnivores. With this as a starting point we decided to make a drawing of a sleeping baby deer, an innocent prey safe from harm without any thought of danger or threat on its mind. We wanted a simple idea and felt this was the most direct interpretation of the theme we could come up with. The deer is hand drawn with pen."

Long Slow Distance
Sivert Høyems new album Long Slow Distance was released yesterday. A darker and what seems to be a very honest and at times experimental album needed artwork to match, and we were asked to make it. The artwork consists of figures made by Sivert Høyem put into sceneries, directed, photographed and treated by us. We also ended up photographing the band members to get matching portraits inside the artwork.

Yesterdays release party performance at the Spacebunker (Norways coolest underground venue, soon to be torn down so the rich and the beautiful can have their fancy apartments) was amazing: dark, crooning and soulful.

We suggest you check out the digipack or vinyl version.

Released through EMI.

Under Administration
It's been a long time since we've posted anything at all here, mostly because we've been too busy the last months. (Which means that we have A LOT of work to share with you when time allows.)

First out is the artwork for Sivert Høyems single "Under Administration" which is released by EMI today. We're also in the process of wrapping up the artwork for the full length which we'll reveal when time is due.

A video for the single can be seen here.

12" vinyl available now
Kim Sølve's nighttime occupation and obsession ADVERSUM has now released I LEFT THE PLANET. More info below.

Artist: I Left the Planet
Title: I Left the Planet
Label: Adversum
Format: Etched 12" vinyl
Cat. no: AV003

One from the vaults, this unique piece of avant-garde metal history, never before leaked or released, features some of the authorities of the genre including members from Fleurety and Ved Buens Ende.

Recorded on analogue 16-track tape in March 1996, I Left the Planet is a one-off project featuring members from Fleurety, Ved Buens Ende and Virus; all bands hailed as originators of the style that has lately come to be known as avant-garde metal.

Lyrics and voice are courtesy of acclaimed Norwegian author and novelist Bjørn Esben Almaas, overlaying three separate pieces of music written by Alexander Nordgaren, also handling guitars on the recording. Combined with Ayna Beate Johansen’s distinctive voice, Czral’s legendary drums and percussion style, Per Amund Solberg’s contrapuntal bass melodies and Mari Solberg’s jazzy saxophones the result is different from any other band of the era; Dark Poetry. Dark Metal. Dark Jazz.

The recording plays across and between Adversum’s label profile key words; disharmony, imagination, individualism, courage, entertainment and darkness, and is its first release on vinyl.

I Left the Planet is limited to 274 copies. The cover and vinyl artwork has been made by Trine + Kim Design Studio. The record is pressed on heavy duty black 12” vinyl featuring music on side A and etched art on side B. To order now visit Adversum here.

Personnel:
Voice: Ayna Beate Johansen
Voice, Radio: Bjørn Esben Almaas
Drums: Czral
Saxophone: Mari Solberg
Bass: Per Amund Solberg
Guitars: Alexander Nordgaren

Music and Production by Alexander Nordgaren.
Lyrics by Bjørn Esben Almaas.
Recorded at Stovner Rockefabrikk March 1996.
Mastered by Greg Chandler at Priory Studios.
Art and Design by Trine + Kim Design Studio.

The Sleeping Gods
Our brand new artwork for Enslaved's EP "The Sleeping Gods" is now made official, continuing in the same style as the merchandise we made for the band last year. The EP is released by Scion and available as 10" vinyl, CD and free download.

Interview in march issue of Scream Magazine
The recently published march issue of Scream Magazine includes a two page interview with Kim Sølve of TKDS. The interview is mainly about our experience as artists in the music business; but the journalist was also curious about Adversum and Kims music.

The same issue also runs a one page interview with YUREI, the first artist released on Kims Adversum label. There's not many interviews with Bjeima around so make sure you get a copy if you're curious about his music.
